Champurrado Cereal – A Mexican Hot Chocolate Cereal

Mornings at my house pass by like a blur some days then next thing you know it the kids are gone and then it’s calm. With all the craziness happening I’m sure there are days that I forget about breakfast. Luckily I have put this champurrado cereal together so I have a reason to eat breakfast each morning.

What is champurrado you ask? It’s a thick Mexican hot chocolate. Champurrado is a classic Mexican drink that my husband introduced me to when we were dating and I just love it. Ever since we moved to Las Vegas I can’t find anything like what we are used to. Champurrado cereal hits the right spot and allows a little piece of heaven each morning.

CHAMPURRADO CEREAL

What you need:

  • Quaker® Simply Granola (Oats, Honey & Almonds)
  • Quaker® Life (Cinnamon)
  • 2 Mexican chocolate disk
  • Milk – This can be regular 2%, almond or soy milk… whatever you put in your cereal

What to do:

Step 1 : Open Quaker® Simply Granola and place in a mixing bowl

Step 2: Add in Quaker® Life (Cinnamon)

Mexican chocolate disk

Step 3: Take your favorite Mexican chocolate disks (you need 2 for this recipe) and put them in a food processor — it doesn’t need to be powder, I like having some chucks in it.  

Step 4: Add chocolate into mixing bowl with the other ingredients

Step 5: Mix

Step 6: Serve with your favorite milk.

Stores easily in a freezer gallon bag or storage container

All of these items were found at my local Walmart.

We love using our favorite Quaker® items as a ice cream toppings or as simple as starting our days with it.

 I love changing my morning routine from time to time and adding some fond past memories into it. I’d love to hear how you change things up in your home!
