Have you ever wanted to make hot chocolate but didn’t want the mess it creates when making it in the microwave? Instead make hot chocolate in the coffee maker.
So one day I was making coffee in my coffee maker and thought can I make hot chocolate in a coffee maker? How would I make hot chocolate in a coffee maker? Well after many attempts and trial and errors I finally figured it out.
Who else loves hot chocolate but I really dislike making it. I can never get the technique down.
Have you tried to microwave it and it always over flows making a mess that you have to clean up.
What about the two cup transfer method? Where you put a cup filled with water in it and heat it up and then transfer that water into another cup with the cocoa mix on the bottom, the water always gets all over the counter when trying to transfer it making another mess. Can someone please explain to me WHY this happens?
The other option is heating it on the stove, but to be honest Iām never in the mood to do that.
What you need:
- Coffee Maker
- Packs of hot chocolate mix (or you can make your own if you like)
- Water
Directions:
- Fill coffee maker with water, I fill mine up to the 4 cups mark.
- Open packs of hot chocolate mix, put the powder into the coffee carafe, and place into the coffee maker… I like to add 3-4 packs for 4 cups of water.
- Turn on the coffee maker and let it run.
- Stir the hot chocolate liquid, and make sure all the powder is dissolved
- Pour into cups and don’t forget the marshmallows.
Have you tried this life hack? This has simplified my life so much now when the kids ask for hot chocolate I know I can make it with such ease.
This high protein mug cake would go perfect with this!

Love this idea, but I had a question. Don you need a coffee filter to put the cocoa in or do you just put it straight in the carafe?
Jacqui says
nope you just add it into the coffee pot

I have never thought to make hot chocolate in this way! This is so interesting! My daughter loves hot chocolate but she is always complaining that there are some chunks in her hot chocolate. I think that your idea with the coffee maker is very clever. Thanks a lot for sharing! Bounds Green Carpet Cleaners Ltd.
