I love living an active and healthy lifestyle. However, there are a few days out to the month when I would rather curl up with my favorite blanket and watch a marathon of my favorite movies … rather than workout. During this time my motivation isn’t there, I feel tubby (seriously I bloat like a whale) and working out is the last thing on my mind. So I have come up with a few tips to help keep you stay active during your period.
- Get outside—
Change your scenery, get outside and be one with nature. Go for a hike, the fresh air is good for you! This will brighten your mood and help create a new routine for you. - Stay hydrated—Make sure you drink your water while you are on your period! I have noticed that I get dehydrated when I am about to start my period. When you keep hydrated during your period it actually helps reduce your cramps.
- Work out—
Do some light cardio. Just get out and work out! Working out gets you in a good mood too. Although you can exercise like you normally would, you might not be up for the challenge. Exercising helps reduce your period symptoms and helps you get out of your “I’m on my period” funk. Make sure you have a backup workout plan, you just never know what might come up that will prevent you from working out. I keep light weights and workout DVD’s so I have no excuses to not workout. - Supplies—
Keep everything you need at your fingertips! Doesn’t matter if you wear tampons, pads, or both, just make sure you have what you need when you need it. I keep U by Kotex® Click® Tampons (Designed small, protects big), U by Kotex® Barely There Liners (Super flexible, it moves any way you do), U by Kotex® Cleanwear® Pads (Unique 3D Capture Core* with Xpress DRI* cover for crazy fast absorption to help stop leaks) under my sink and keep it stocked up.
Next time your at your local CVS pick up a few packs of your favorite U by Kotex® products. - Create a Period To-Go Pack—
I have made a period pack that I throw in my gym bag stocked with everything I might need when I need it. I took a makeup bag that I have and put my tampons, pads and liners in it! Yup that’s it! Extremely easy and cute at the same time, I love this idea so much that I also made one to keep in my purse.
Don’t let your period stop you from living the active lifestyle you deserve to have. Make sure you have a daily break too, how do you take a daily break while on your period?

These are great tips and, I agree, staying active makes ‘that time’ easier to deal with! (client)
